About
Brian Westlake, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT
I treat low back, neck, arm and leg pain by video for people located in New York State, and my goal in every case is to make myself unnecessary as quickly as possible.

Why I practice this way
Most people arrive at physical therapy having already been told several different stories about their pain. An image found something. A practitioner named a structure. Somewhere in there, the message became: this is happening to you, and you will need someone else to manage it.
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy starts somewhere else entirely. Instead of reasoning from a picture, it asks what your pain actually does when you move in specific directions. Some directions make it worse. One, usually, makes it retreat. Finding that direction is the assessment, and once you have it, you are the one holding the controls.
That is why a course of care here is three to five visits rather than thirty. Not because your problem is small, but because the objective is a skill you keep, not an appointment you keep coming back for.

How I work
Every visit is with me. There is no aide, no rotating schedule and no one to hand you off to. You get an honest answer about whether this approach fits your problem That includes when the answer is no, in which case I will tell you where to go next and why.
And because I would rather nobody paid for something that did not work, care through VMPT carries a 100% money-back guarantee.
Where I can treat you
Physical therapy is licensed state by state, so I can currently see patients who are located in New York State at the time of the visit. If you are elsewhere, put your state on the list: you get the free videos now, a referral if I know a certified clinician near you, and one email when your state opens.

What patients say afterwards
Rated 5 out of 5
“I was very close to heading to urgent care… Instead I was able to get a telehealth appointment with Dr. Westlake and by the end of the hour long appointment my pain level went from a 7–8 to a 3–4… as I sit here on Sunday night I am completely pain free. I also never had to leave my home for an appointment.”

“Excruciating pain in my shoulder blade eventually running up my neck down into my arm and fingers. Dr. Westlake is the best. 5 sessions and I was 90% better. Convenient, done right in my home… Virtual Mechanical PT works. 100% it works!”
